Search Query Validation Tool in EasySLR

The Search Query Validation Tool in EasySLR helps you test whether your search strategy successfully retrieves key known studies before starting screening.

By validating your query against selected identifiers (PMID, DOI, or Title), the tool measures recall, identifies gaps, and ensures your search strategy is aligned with your research objective.

When to Use This Tool
Use Search Query Validation when:
  • Finalizing your database search strategy
  • Starting Title–Abstract screening
  • Ensuring key benchmark studies are captured
  • Refining keywords or Boolean logic
  • Preparing protocol documentation

How to Validate a Search Query
  1. Select Search Query Validation section from tools.
  1. Upload your validation file (CSV and supported formats).
  2. Select your Matching Method(s).
  3. Add your Identifiers (PMID, DOI, or Title).

  1. Click Validate.
  2. The system will process the records and generate validation results.

Choosing Matching Methods
Select one or more matching methods.
An article will be considered found if it matches using any selected method.

Available options:
  • PubMed ID – Match using PMID
  • DOI – Match using Digital Object Identifier
  • Title – Match using exact and fuzzy title matching
You can combine methods for more flexible and accurate validation.

Adding Identifiers
Enter one or more identifiers to validate against your uploaded file.
You can separate multiple identifiers using:
  • Semicolons
  • New lines
These identifiers typically represent known relevant or benchmark studies.

Understanding Validation Results
After validation, you will see:
  • Total Identifiers
  • Found
  • Not Found
  • Recall (%)
  • Searched Across X Articles

You can also:
  • View matched identifiers
  • Edit identifiers
  • Revalidate instantly
  • Export results as CSV

Q. Are AI credits charged when I run Search Query Validation?
No, Search Query Validation does not consume any AI credits.

This feature works through structured identifier matching (PMID, DOI, Title) and recall calculation, and does not use AI-generated outputs.

Important Notes:
Validation measures retrieval performance, not study relevance or quality.
High recall does not guarantee high precision.
Always revalidate after major query changes.
Export validation results for protocol documentation, reporting, and audit purposes.
